This year our Peregrines only laid two eggs. Previously they have always laid 3 or 4 eggs, usually 4. It is difficult to explain. Maybe it’s their age, though clutches of 2 eggs are actually not that rare.
As we have seen before at Sussex Heights, sometimes one or more eggs fail to hatch. Maybe they are infertile. So we only have one chick this year. However, it should receive plenty of food and appears to be doing well. It won’t be long before its wing feathers start to sprout.
